Diaper Cakes AND....

Simple

Less Simple

Not as simple

Well, I've become the official diaper-cake-maker. I really enjoy doing them, but I have to admit that they are time consuming. When I first started making them, I did them very simple. Being as crazy as I am, I just can't do simple anymore. I know, what's wrong with me? My aunt, Chris, has been my real inspiration. She makes diaper cakes to die for!! I know I'll never be as good as her, but using her inspiration and the crud load of scrapbook paper I have I've been making them for a lot of friends and family. They really aren't hard to do... they just take time. The one issue I have with them is that I don't know if the people receiving them think that's my gift to them or not. I want it to be my gift to them since diapers aren't cheap and I put time and effort into them, but I think they're considered more of a center piece and not a gift as much. What do you think? I need a general consensus whether people consider them a gift or not, so that I don't feel bad when all I make is the cake.... Help?

OH YEAH, AND I'M....

I guess I could have done a separate post for this but thought, "what the hey, I'll kill 2 birds with 1 stone." I'm only 5 weeks but it's been hard hiding it cuz I'm darn right moody and have been throwing up lots. I'm actually kinda glad I'm not feeling great, because that's usually a sign that things are going well. Let's hope they continue to do so.... I CANNOT even tell you how excited we are!! We love our sweet Lily and cannot wait to have another one of her in our home!

Wow! Congratulations on the new pregnancy; so excited for you!

We got a diaper cake from a baby shower that they threw for Jeff at work. I definitely thought of it as a gift, knowing how expensive diapers can be . . . and a great gift at that!

CONGRATS!! YEA! When are you due? That is so exciting! I hope you feel better soon!
As for the diaper cake...I would do the cake (super cute) and then just give them a card and write something like..."I hope you enjoy the diaper cake" to make it clear that is the gift! Diapers are super expensive plus like you said it's time consuming!!

Congrats on your pregnancy! I am so excited for you to join the two kid club!! haha!

I love, love, love your diaper cakes. You need to teach me how to make them! Seriously if you taught craft classes i would totally come! To answer your question, i would definetly consider the diaper cake as your gift! I would never take it apart and display it in my child's room!

Wow Congrats on the pregnancy! Thats fantastic. The diaper cakes are beautiful. They are definitely considered a gift. You might even attach the card to the back of it or something. Plus, they're so much cuter than any other gift you might get. I'm with Brittany...I think it makes a great nursery decoration.

I am so excited for your new addition. I know how you feel about the sick thing, I never did and it wasn't until this new one started kicking the heck out of me that I really felt prego. When are you due? So cool that our kids (both of them) will be about the same age! Oh, and the diaper cakes look so good, def a gift.

Congrats- that's so fun! Your diaper cakes are gorgeous- I've been wanting to attempt one forever but they look complicated. I guess I should get brave and do it. I think they definitely count as a gift!

Holy Cow! Congratulations. I just saw you like 30 min ago at church, and didn't even know yet. That is great. They will be about the same distance apart as our girls. It's crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Diaper cakes....Definitely would consider that a wonderful/fabulous gift! If it were me I certainly wouldn't expect anything else.

CONGRATULATIONS! Does Lilly want to come play at our house sometime? I was so sick with my second, that I would help anyone without hesitation (anytime)!

Someone mentioned to me this morning you were prego so I had to come scope out the details...congrats! You'll love having your kids right around 2 years apart, I think it's a perfect spacing! Hang in there for the next couple months of feeling icky...

Congrats. I am so excited for you! You are such a cute mommy! I la la love the diaper Cakes. And I would totally think that is a perfect gift. I think if you are a first time mom, sometimes you don't realize how much diapers cost. But the first time you go to the store buy them and then are back at the store in two days because you didn't realize that the little pack you bought only last for a few days. You are really grateful for the DIAPER CAKE!!!

Congratulations!! I hope you start to feel better soon. You are such a cute mom to Lily and this new baby is so lucky to be coming to your family!
Also, I would absolutely consider the cake a great gift. Maybe just a little note saying congrats and enjoy the diaper cake or something. Then they know it's from you!
I will have to call you soon- we are still getting things together, but we want to have you guys over soon! We'll chat soon.

Hi Kristyn!! Congrats on your exciting news!! Lily is so cute and I can't wait to see what this second baby will be! Boy or Girl; any preference? And I know what you mean about other ways to make the baby come :) I didn't want to post about it either so I'm glad people know what I'm talking about. I think it will be here very soon and I can't wait! I'm nervous but so excited to finally see what it is!! Talk to you later!!!

Congrats on your news! I received a diaper cake for our shower and loved it! I'm making one this week for a friend. I love your photos for ideas! They make fun centerpieces and double as a gift!

Thanks for the email so we can keep in touch! Who else do you hear from who went to China with us?

Holy cow! Congratualations! I am so excited for you! And your diaper cakes TOTALLY qualify as the gift. and don't feel quilty about it. I just did one of my friends hair for her bridals and her wedding and her little girls hair and I counted that as her wedding gift. Between all the times I did her hair it was like 6 hours of hair doing. I don't feel quilty, you shouldn't either. :) Back to the new baby. When are you due? How fun for you and your little family.
